Our 10-Step Process
Here’s the exact 10-Step Refinishing Process we use to deliver a smooth, durable, factory-like finish on every cabinet project.
Step 1 | Remove doors & drawers
Carefully remove all cabinet doors, drawer fronts, and hardware, labelling each piece for easy reinstallation.
Step 2 | Protect and mask the kitchen
Cover floors, countertops, appliances, and surrounding areas with plastic and masking paper, and set up proper dust/overspray protection.
Step 3 | Degrease & clean surfaces
Thoroughly clean all cabinet surfaces with a professional degreaser to remove grease, oil, and other residues.
Step 4 | Sand & prep surfaces
Sand all doors, drawers, and cabinet frames to promote adhesion, then vacuum and wipe down to remove dust.
Step 5 | Fill old handle holes (if needed)
Fill unwanted hardware holes and surface imperfections with wood filler, then sand smooth for a flawless finish.
Step 6 | Apply bonding primer
Apply a high-adhesion bonding primer designed specifically for cabinet refinishing.
Step 7 | Apply topcoat finish
Spray professional-grade topcoat in multiple thin layers, sanding lightly between coats for a smooth, durable finish.
Step 8 | Install new handles & hardware
Drill for new hardware (if needed) and install new handles or knobs.
Step 9 | Reinstall doors & drawers
Rehang doors, reinstall drawer fronts, and adjust hinges for perfect alignment.
Step 10 | Final cleanup & customer walkthrough
Remove masking, clean the workspace, and walk the customer through the finished project.
